Bundaberg Port CUI – Electrical & Instrumentation Works

The Bundaberg Port Common User Infrastructure (CUI) project delivered new permanent materials handling infrastructure at the Port of Bundaberg, supporting the Port’s capacity to service existing and future users through improved product outloading infrastructure. 

The project incorporated new Yard and Cross Conveyors together with modifications to existing port infrastructure, creating an integrated conveyor system capable of handling new products through the established terminal environment.  

CE Group was engaged by Clough to deliver the Electrical and Instrumentation installation works supporting the new conveyor infrastructure. The package incorporated electrical and instrumentation supply, construction, installation, termination and testing across the project. 

Electrical works included installation, cabling, termination and testing of LV power, control and instrumentation cabling; electrical drives; pumps; motorised valves; lighting and power systems; distribution boards; plant earthing and lightning protection; cable ladder and support systems; and mechanical equipment associated with the materials handling process. The works also included installation of MV/HV cabling, with specialist HV termination undertaken separately.  

The instrumentation package extended across field instrumentation, solenoid and on/off valves, instrument air and impulse piping, manifolds and associated fittings, communications cabling and specialist vendor-supplied instrumentation and control equipment. CE’s scope also included mounting and external cable termination to package PLC and control system architecture.  

Delivery within an established port environment required coordination between new infrastructure, existing terminal assets, vendor equipment and multiple construction interfaces. The package brought together power, control, instrumentation and communications infrastructure required to support the operation of the new materials handling system. 

The project demonstrates CE Group’s capability in delivering integrated E&I packages for ports, bulk materials handling and complex industrial infrastructure, combining electrical construction, instrumentation and control system integration within an operational asset environment.
