CE Group, a reliable electrical mining contractor, was engaged for three major projects at Hail Creek Mine. Located 120 kilometers inland from Mackay, Queensland, these upgrades were essential to improve mine operations.

The first project, the Hail Creek IAU – Warehouse project, involved electrical works for the 2,750m² warehouse. CE Group’s scope included high bay lighting installation for task and racking requirements, as well as office lighting and general power. Additionally, CE Group designed, manufactured, and installed the Main Distribution Board (DB100) for the warehouse. This work also required the installation of several 25-meter Area Lighting Towers, along with civil works and extensive power runs to the warehouse.

Furthermore, the Hail Creek IAU – Heavy Vehicle Tyre Bay project required high bay lighting for task-specific needs, office lighting, and general power. CE Group designed, manufactured, and installed the Tyre Facility’s switchboards. The project also included civil works for the power supply submain run to the Tyre Bay Facility.

Meanwhile, the Hail Creek High Voltage Reticulation Upgrade involved the installation of 22,000 V cable and underground reticulation. This upgrade replaced the existing above-ground infrastructure with a more reliable underground system. CE Group also installed two new 2,000kVA Kiosk Transformer/RMU units. In addition, civil works were performed for concrete slabs, trenching, and pit excavation. CE Group re-configured and installed the DB28 Low Voltage Distribution Board to suit the new power systems.

Notably, the High and Low Voltage change-over works were completed in a single day, on Boxing Day. This was the only available time for isolating the High Voltage System to replace the HV Feeder Circuit Breaker.

All projects were successfully completed within the mine’s operational constraints, showcasing CE Group’s ability to work under pressure. Moreover, the projects recorded zero “Lost Time Injuries,” earning praise for CE Group’s strong commitment to safety.
