Mount Morgan Gold Treatment & Rehabilitation Project – Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Installation

Mount Morgan, Central Queensland

Project Details

The Mount Morgan Gold Treatment and Rehabilitation Project is being developed at the former Mount Morgan mine in Central Queensland. The project combines rehabilitation of existing mine tailings with new mineral processing infrastructure for the recovery of gold and copper. Heritage Minerals appointed MACA Interquip Mintrex as EPCM contractor for the process of plant scope.

CE Group was engaged for the on-site electrical, instrumentation and controls installation and testing associated with the process plant. The works span the Scrubbing & Milling, Resin & Cyanide, Leaching & Services, Copper Recovery and non-process infrastructure areas, requiring coordinated EIC delivery across multiple plant systems and interfaces.

The technical scope includes installation and termination of HV and LV power, instrumentation, control and communications cabling; cable ladder, conduit and associated supports; switchroom and transformer connections; MCC and control-panel interfaces; field instrumentation infrastructure; fibre-optic and Cat 6 communications cabling; earthing systems; and lightning protection. HV terminations are required to be undertaken by qualified HV cable jointers.

Delivery is structured around staged access to individual process areas and coordination with other contractors operating concurrently on site. The project program progresses through HV connection and switchroom works into successive processing areas, followed by pre-commissioning and commissioning phases. The scope specifically requires coordination of access and interfaces with other supplied equipment and contractors.

Inspection, testing and quality assurance form a defined component of the works. Requirements include ITPs, inspection and test records, traceable test results, quality documentation, as-built mark-ups, and a final Manufacturer’s Data Report. On-load wet and dry commissioning remains the Company’s responsibility, with CE personnel required to provide assistance and rectify installation issues where necessary.

The project demonstrates CE Group’s capability to execute multidisciplinary EIC construction packages across HV/LV power distribution, instrumentation, control infrastructure and communications within a major mineral processing development, while managing staged access, contractor interfaces, testing and documented quality assurance.
