Ti-Tree Power Infrastructure Upgrade – HV/LV Design & Construct

Willowbank, QLD

Project Details

The Ti-Tree Power Infrastructure Upgrade is a major electrical infrastructure upgrade at the Ti-Tree Power Station in Willowbank, Queensland. The project involves the development of the existing preliminary design through detailed engineering, followed by procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning of new high-voltage and low-voltage infrastructure. CE Group is engaged as the Design & Construct Manager for the works.

The project centres on the delivery of a new HV/LV switchroom, transformer infrastructure and associated electrical systems. The scope incorporates detailed HV and LV design, control system design and integration, hazardous area design, civil and structural engineering, mechanical design, fire services and building services, requiring coordination across multiple engineering disciplines through staged design reviews and IFC delivery.

The electrical infrastructure includes a new 33kV HV switchboard, extension of the existing 33kV switchboard, HV/LV cable reticulation and an extension to the existing earth grid. A new 33kV/433V 1MVA auxiliary transformer forms part of the upgrade, together with a new 415V main switchboard, Gas Conditioning Switchboard 2, distribution boards, remote I/O panels and 24V/48V power supply and battery systems.

Integration with the existing power station infrastructure is a significant component of delivery. The works include modifications to existing gas conditioning and station main switchboards, together with decommissioning, demolition and relocation works required to transition the facility to the upgraded electrical architecture.

Delivery extends across the complete D&C lifecycle, including procurement and manufacturing of major electrical equipment, Factory Acceptance Testing, transportation, site construction and installation, Site Acceptance Testing, testing and commissioning, and final handover. The project program also incorporates staged design submissions, Safety in Design and HAZOP processes ahead of construction and commissioning.

The project demonstrates integrated power infrastructure capability across engineering, HV/LV systems, switchrooms, transformers, control systems and site construction, with CE coordinating the technical interfaces required to deliver a complex upgrade within an existing power generation facility.
