Project Details
The Virginia Branch Sewer (VBS) is a critical 900 mm diameter trunk sewer serving several northern Brisbane suburbs, including Banyo, Northgate, Virginia, Chermside, Geebung, Aspley, Stafford Heights, and McDowall. Due to frequent sewer overflows, particularly around Banyo and Northgate, the network’s current wet weather performance fails to meet Urban Utilities’ Design Criteria. This poses risks to both properties and the environment, highlighting the urgent need for infrastructure upgrades.
CE Group, a reputable switchboard manufacturer, was engaged to contribute to this essential project by undertaking the design, supply, testing, and delivery of switchboards and connection panels associated with the Cannery Creek Sewage Pumping Station (SPS). Their scope of work included several key components, such as the SPS MCC (SP515-0110-SWB-0001) and the Screens Chamber Local Control Panel (SP515-0110-LCP-0001).
The design phase focused on aligning the assets with the end client’s specifications, ensuring that all project requirements were met. CE Group’s custom switchboards were designed to a high standard, measuring 7 meters in length, rated at 800Amps, and with an IP56 rating. In addition to this, the switchboards were built to withstand 36kA and contain arc faults, enhancing overall safety and reliability. As part of their commitment to quality, CE Group conducted type testing, particularly with arcSAFE, to ensure compliance and operational safety.
Furthermore, CE Group demonstrated their expertise as a switchboard manufacturer by delivering the project on time and successfully completing the client witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). The panels supplied included the Generator Connection Panel (SP515-0110-JBX-0003), the Supply Authority Metering Panel, and the Fish Screen Disconnection Panel.
By providing reliable and innovative solutions, CE Group contributed significantly to the success of the Virginia Branch Sewer upgrade, ensuring that the assets were delivered and installed to the highest standards. This project not only improved the network’s capacity to manage wet weather conditions but also demonstrated CE Group’s expertise in delivering critical infrastructure as a trusted switchboard manufacturer.
